Healing Mass May 20, 2007

Immaculate Conception Parish celebrated a Healing Mass and Parish Luncheon on May 20th. It was a very special occasion for all those attending including many Homebound Parishioners.

The Anointing of the Sick is a Sacrament of Healing. God cares about our bodies as well as our souls. Fr. Martin Glynn and visiting priest, Fr. Collins, concelebrated the Mass with the assistance of Deacon Jerry Schenker.

We were able to celebrate some very special people in our community. Often we don’t know how special they are until they become seriously ill, frail or incapacitated. It is then that we often see the courage, endurance, strength, even cheerfulness and many other qualities we never thought of before and now have become an inspiration for us. We see not just a sick person who needs care, but a member of our community and a blessing for us.

We wish to thank Henry Zarzycki for coordinating the efforts of the Knights of Columbus and Squires. Their assistance transporting our Homebound Parishioners and helping them in and out of church and the Lyceum made the day run very smoothly.

We are a community of caring and the Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament of caring. Our Prayer Shawl Ministry is a Ministry of caring. During the Mass Fr. Martin blessed the display of Prayer Shawls and Coverlets loving created by the Prayer Shawl Ministry at Immaculate Conception. Those coverlets and shawls will be distributed to anyone in need of a comforting embrace and reminder that they are loved, cared for, and in our prayers.

If you know of anyone who would benefit from one of our shawls or coverlets please call the Rectory (973-827-9575) with your request.
