Confirmation Students Sponsor Birth Haven Baby Shower

On January 31, Carol Beach from Birth Haven spoke to the 8th and 9th grade Confirmation Students. Confirmation Students will be sponsoring a Birth Haven Baby Shower each Sunday during Lent at which time they will collect items needed for babies and for new Moms. Birth Haven has been in existence for 20 years and has provided support and hope for teens and women who have chosen to carry their pregnancies to full term. It is an independent, non-profit organization that welcomes women from all over New Jersey, regardless of age, race, creed, nationality, financial ability or marital status. Birth Haven is the only transitional home that accepts and welcomes minors.
Birth Haven is located in Newton and can house up to 9 residents. A great emphasis is placed on education and residents are required to continue high school or obtain a high school equivalency diploma. Life enrichment classes are provided, such as nutrition, parenting, and childcare for those who chose to raise their children; or counseling referrals to recognized state and private adoption agencies.
Birth Haven relies mostly on community fund-raisers and private contributions and donations to accomplish all that they do. Therefore, we are asking you to be as generous as you can in our annual Baby Shower for Birth Haven.
All donations may be brought to church and left at the side of the podium on any Sunday during Lent.
